The ELPC held their annual Gala to promote smart legal action to those that might otherwise harm the environment.
Tim Milburn, the partner at Green Ways 2Go, joined the festivities and had a chance to speak with Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth about dealing with climate and environmental actions locally and she said she supports such initiatives. As one of the key speakers, she also strongly supports federal solutions for climate change and water quality, while considering environmental justice.
In addition to Senator Duckworth, Chris Hayes was the other key speaker. Hayes hosts All In with Chris Hayes, a weekday news and opinion television show on MSNBC. He spoke about the realities of the need to take broad action on climate, now, but political challenges are the biggest hurdle and climate mitigation needs to be addressed openly as part of the 2020 election.
Howard Lerner, President and Executive Director at ELPC led the discussions and presented some compelling environmental actions his organization has taken recently to challenge industries that would otherwise not be held to account. Much of the good work ELPC does focuses on the Great Lakes and smart power and transportation solutions for the Midwest
